What a trip!
A parishioner of St. Clement's Church in Saratoga Springs, Halley is carrying on her family's tradition of studying at Catholic Central High School in Troy. Her father, cousins, aunts and uncles all went there.
Halley uses the time in the car to complete homework assignments before school or to unwind on the way home. Her choice to attend CCHS involved a big commitment from her family. Her mother, Zbeth Sutherland, said she's put 100,000 miles on her car as she makes the commute four times a day.
"It's worth the trip," Mrs. Sutherland said. "I can't say enough about the value of a Catholic education. I grew up in Minnesota in a family of nine, and we went to Catholic schools."
While the Troy school is a family tradition, Mrs. Sutherland said her family researched all of their options before deciding on CCHS for Halley. The size of the school and its offerings were among its attractions. (MM)
