AT LASALLE, TROY
Two teachers named educators of the year
LaSalle Institute in Troy has presented its annual Lasallian Educator of the Year Award to two teachers: Jack Kenyon and John Leonard.
"We are very proud to have both teachers at LaSalle Institute," said Brother Christopher J. Belleman, FSC, principal. "Each year, we try to choose one teacher that exemplifies the standards we expect from our teachers and displays true dedication to the students. This year, it was apparent that both teachers deserved this award."
The award honors an educator who exemplifies the ideals of St. John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
The recipient must be an educational minister in a Lasallian school for at least five years, must work in association with the school community to foster Gospel values in the lives of the staff and students, and must see the school as a place of educational excellence which shares in the teaching mission in the Catholic Church.
Mr. Kenyon has been a member of the LaSalle social studies department since 1969. He has coached many sports, including varsity baseball.
Mr. Leonard is a chemistry teacher who also heads the cross-country and track teams. He came to LaSalle in 1984.
