T'ai chi, reiki and therapeutic touch
* T'ai chi chih, usually abbreviated as "t'ai chi," is a series of slow movements similar in form to a martial art that are intended to balance the body's energy, or "chi."
* Reiki theorizes that the body has seven "chakras," or areas that allow "universal energy" to flow through. Distress of some form can cause these chakras to close, and a reiki practitioner can help to open them again.
* In therapeutic touch, a practitioner passes her hands over a patient's body in a sweeping motion to balance the energy field that surrounds the person. (KB)
