TUITION
Students benefit from donations
Made possible through the generosity of two parishioners of St. Helen's Church in Niskayuna, the fund was established as part of the 2001 Diocesan Capital Campaign. Eligible families must have one or more students already enrolled in a Catholic elementary or secondary school.
Approximately 1,100 applications were submitted for processing in April and awards were announced in May. Nearly $80,000 was given to 200 families in need.
"This marks the Lally Tuition Assistance Fund's first year, and we are thrilled that additional financial resources have been made available to our families," said Sister Jane Herb, superintendent of Catholic Schools. "We realize that it can be financially overwhelming to have more than one child attend parochial school. We have heard from many families who also have students in college. It is our hope that we will continue to grow the fund annually in order to continue to help as many families as possible."
(Families interested in applying will be given the opportunity to do so again in April 2003.)
