* Avila, an independent-living community in Albany for wealthier seniors that is set to open in 2003, recently received project approval from the State of New York, and the staff will begin accepting refundable deposits on 128 mid-rise residences and 24 free-standing cottages;
* an assisted-living facility in Guilderland, set to open at the end of 2003, will be owned and operated jointly by St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady, St. Peter's Hospital in Albany and the Cusack Community Services Corp.; and
* senior housing on the campus of St. Anthony-on-Hudson Friary in Rensselaer, will be funded in part through the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal. This facility will include 77 independent-living units and up to 45 assisted-living units, and is scheduled to open in 2004.
