Meanwhile, Colonial Council champs the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany won their quarterfinal game after a first-round bye. Kierra Moore and Shelby Wood each scored a goal as AHN defeated Glovers-ville 2-0. The win advanced the girls to the semifinals against South Glens Falls on Nov. 3.

Boys' soccer
Like their female counterparts, the Catholic High boys' team won their first-round playoff game, beating Albany Academy 2-1. Zac Ethier and George Herringers scored a goal apiece for CCHS.

LaSalle Institute in Troy and ND-BG were both shut out in their opening-round playoff games. ND-BG lost 8-0 to Mohonasen, while LaSalle was defeated by Saratoga Springs 3-0.

Football
It was not a good week for Catholic high schools in the Albany Diocese, most notably Saratoga Central Catholic, which lost to Greenwich 50-0 to finish their season.

ND-BG's defense failed to show up in their game against Rensselaer, as they also gave up 50 points. Derrick Pitts did have two rushing touchdowns for Gibbons, but it was not enough: They lost 50-22.

Meanwhile, Bishop Maginn's season also came to an end over the weekend with a 27-20 playoff loss to South Glens Falls. Tymear Mallory ran for 104 yards with a touchdown, and Chris Jeffers had a passing and a rushing touchdown for the Albany school. Maginn finishes their season with a 3-6 record.
