Sister Rita Mary Melcher, RSM

A funeral Mass was offered Aug. 17 in the chapel of the Convent of Mercy, Albany, for Sister Rita Mary Melcher, who died Aug. 13. She had been a Sister of Mercy for 71 years.

A native of Albany, she taught at numerous elementary schools in the Albany Diocese, including St. Teresa of Avila, St. Patrick's, Vincentian Institute and St. Margaret Mary's in Albany; St. Agnes, Cohoes; St. Patrick's, Watervliet; Annunciation, Ilion; and St. John's, Rensselaer. She also taught at Mercy High School and Maria College, Albany.

Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.[[In-content Ad]]
