Sister Mary Karol Smolka, CSJ

A funeral Mass was offered April 16 in the chapel of St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham, for Sister Mary Karol Smolka, who died April 14. She was 95 and had been a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 79 years.

A native of Chadwicks, N.Y., she taught for 26 years in schools in the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses and, for 23 years, was assistant professor of biology at The College of Saint Rose in Albany. In retirement, she visited the county jail.

Survivors include her sister, Loretta O'Connor, of Clinton. Interment was in Our Lady Queen of Virgins Cemetery, Latham.[[In-content Ad]]
