Sister Mary Agatha Smith, RSM

A funeral Mass was offered June 1 in the chapel of the Convent of Mercy, Albany, for Sister Mary Agatha Smith, who died May 27. She had been a Sister of Mercy for 59 years.

A native of Utica, she served as a teacher at St. Patrick's School in Johnstown, Holy Cross and Vincentian Institute in Albany, St. Patrick's in Watervliet and Catholic Central High in Troy. She coordinated and delivered meals for the homeless and was archivist and coordinated peace and justice activities for her religious community.

Survivors include her sisters, Bernice of Poland, N.Y., and Gertrude of Seattle. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.[[In-content Ad]]
