OBITUARY

Sister Helen Yonkers, RSM

A funeral Mass was offered March 17 in chapel of the Convent of Mercy, Albany, for Sister Helen Yonkers, who died March 12. She had been a Sister of Mercy for 72 years. A native of Rensselaer, she taught at St. John the Baptist School in Schenectady, St. Patrick's, Johnstown; St. Patrick's, Watervliet; Annunciation, Ilion; St. Joseph's High School and Vincentian Institute in Albany; and Keveny Academy, Cohoes. Later, she became pastoral care coordinator at McAuley Residence and clinical pastoral education supervisor at St. Peter's Hospital, both in Albany. Survivors include two brothers, Edward of Rensselaer and Paul of Averill Park. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.[[In-content Ad]]
