Sidebar: Father Malecki runs Falmouth Road Race, raises money for ALS research
In August, Father Malecki ran the Falmouth Road Race on Cape Cod, Mass., a seven-mile race along the shoreline of Nantucket Sound that took place in 81-degree heat and high humidity.
His goal was to raise $750 to donate to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Fund, which offers equipment and services to persons with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He finished the race in three hours and three minutes, and ended up raising $2,260.
Father Malecki ran the race in honor of Teresian House resident Judge John Rehfus, who has ALS and whose room is near the priest's. Father Malecki noted that some of the money raised will go to the Alzheimer's unit at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. (KB)
