STUDENT PRAYERS
Saying amen their own way
Although this is Krystal Wilt's first year of teaching science at Holy Spirit School in East Greenbush, she dove into emphasizing faith and community in the classroom by having each of her classes write its own prayer.
Each of the five sections of science she teaches has a different prayer. The students take turns leading the prayer at the beginning of science class each day.
Mrs. Wilt shared the class prayers with The Evangelist.
GRADE 6
"Dear Lord, we pray that all the experiments go well and nobody gets hurt. We pray that we listen and learn about science. We pray that the school stays safe and sound. Amen."
GRADE 6A
"Dear Lord, help us stay focused and do well in everything we do. You are above all things; we need your help. Help us to love and trust you in everything we do. Help us to keep our faith strong. Amen."
GRADE 7
"Dear Almighty God, please help us have a good lesson. Please protect the military, the hungry, the sick and all people in poverty. Please help us focus in all of our classes and help us to love learning about science! Amen."
GRADE 7A
"Dear Lord, bless us with the knowledge and power to learn about physical science and our world around us. Please help us to focus and be respectful to others. Amen."
