Rev. Venant Lalonde, OFM

A funeral Mass was offered April 25 at St. Anthony's parish, Butler, N.J., for Rev. Venant Lalonde, OFM, who died April 21. He was 89 and had been a Franciscan friar for 63 years and a priest for 58.

A native of Ilion, he served in the U.S. Navy before entering religious life, then served at a parish in New York City, as a missionary for 15 years in Bolivia, for 17 years with the Apostolate of the Sea as a navigator for the Merchant Marine, and at other parishes in New York City and Oklahoma.

Survivors include siblings Jerome Lalonde of Clinton and Margaret Byrne of Dallas, Texas. Interment was in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Butler, N.J.[[In-content Ad]]
