OBITUARY

Rev. Edward E. Sipperly, 85

A funeral Mass will be offered privately for Rev. Edward Sipperly, who died Jan. 3. He was 85 and had been a priest for 58 years, including 40 years as a priest of the Albany Diocese. A native of Cohoes, he served as associate pastor at St. Mary's parish in Hudson, St. Gabriel's in Rotterdam, St. Catherine of Siena in Albany and St. Stanislaus in Amsterdam. He became pastor of St Joseph's parish in Green Island in 1977 and retired in 2002, after which he was a part-time chaplain for the Stratton Veterans' Affairs Medical Center in Albany.

In memorializing him, Rev. David Berberian, diocesan administrative advocate for priests, noted that Father Sipperly "was generous in offering his services to help meets the spiritual needs of parishioners who were comforted by the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite," providing the sacrament of the sick for them even during his retirement years.

After 58 years of priestly ministry, may God welcome Father Sipperly into the peace and joy of heaven.
