OBITUARY
Rev. Edgar Holden, OFM Conv.
A funeral Mass was offered Sept. 19 at St. Francis Friary in Staten Island, N.Y., for Rev. Edgar Holden, who died Sept. 15. He was 93 and had been a Conventual Franciscan friar for 72 years and a priest for 66.
A native of Washington, D.C., he was stationed at St. Anthony-on-Hudson in Rensselaer from 1946-'70, during which he raised funds to build a new seminary building. He also served in Washington, D.C., New Jersey and Staten Island. Until the early 2000s, he wrote a popular column for The Evangelist called "Bits & Bites," reflecting on the day's issues from a faith perspective.
Interment was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Trenton, N.J.[[In-content Ad]]
