Retreat PR gearing up
The retreat, will be shown at 8 p.m. on April 10-12 on WNYT, channel 13 in Albany; WKTV, channel 2 in Utica; and WBGH, channel 12 in Binghamton.
In a mailing last week, the Bishop asked pastors, parish life directors and parish staff to alert Catholics about the televised retreat by posting a flyer, by publicizing it through parish bulletins and by speaking about it in homilies.
In addition to the flyer, parishes received petitions to add to the weekly Prayer of the Faithful, offered during Mass.
"That many in our community will be touched by the Bishop's Lenten retreat," said the suggested prayer, "we pray that families will watch and talk about our Bishop's teachings, that persons alienated or hurt by experiences in our Church will find renewed strength, and that many persons will deepen their relationship with Christ after watching the retreat."
The televised retreat, broadcast during Lent, is part of the Albany Diocese's celebration of Jubilee Year 2000.
