Priest saw the Bambino call his '32 home run
Father Watroba closely follows the New York Yankees, but he's only seen one big league game in his life. However, it was a very important one: The 1932 World Series game where Babe Ruth allegedly pointed toward the center-field bleachers to indicate he was about to hit a home run there -- and did.
The priest claims that the incident isn't just a legend. "I saw Babe Ruth, and he pointed!" he declared. "Why did he do that? Because for the first couple of innings, [Cubs fans] were ribbing him."
"Only one game, and I saw it," he boasted, adding ruefully: "It wasn't any $20 seat; I think it was 75 cents." (KB)
