Priest grateful for his calling
He currently ministers at Holy Trinity parish in Troy. Although he is retired, his active schedule continues to keep him busy. He celebrates daily Mass at Holy Trinity, and every Monday evening presides over the weekly novena to St. Ann and St. Anthony.
Additionally, Father Baniak offers two Masses in Polish each month, one at Holy Trinity on the first Sunday and one at St. Casimir's in Albany on the second Sunday of the month.
"This continues the ethnic spirit of the parishes," he said. Both parishes have a large number of Polish Catholics. He also presides over a First Friday vigil to Our Lady of Fatima.
Asked what he was most thankful for this Thanksgiving, he said, "I'm most grateful for my calling to the priesthood. It has given purpose to my life. Every moment, every day of my life is dedicated to performing my priestly ministry and serving the parishioners of Holy Trinity.
"I am also thankful for continued health that allows me to serve on a day-to-day basis. God has given me the grace to remain mentally and physically able to function, and for this I thank Him."
