'EXCELLENT'
Praises progress of process
According to Archbishop Harry J. Flynn of St. Paul/Minneapolis, response to the U.S. bishop's "Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People" has been "excellent."
Archbishop Flynn, a native of Schenectady, is chairman of the bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Abuse.
"Of course, there is a lot of implementation that still needs to be done, and some areas have been difficult for some dioceses," he noted. "But overall, progress really has been excellent."
According to Archbishop Flynn, the charter forms a "framework from which the bishops can move forward and begin to restore trust. Every diocese has taken hold of the charter wholeheartedly. This process has gone extremely well. The bishops have been very cooperative." (PP)
