Please Give To Missions
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
This Sunday I invite Catholics across the Diocese of Albany to contribute to the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. I am most grateful for all you do to promote the Appeal to be held in the Albany Diocese this weekend August 27 - 28.
Catholic Home Mission Grants provide poorer dioceses in the United States a means to bridge the gap between their needs and the ability to sustain their pastoral works.
The parishes in the mission dioceses of the United States need us. Over the years, the Appeal has supported religious education, evangelization, youth ministry, seminarian education, and ministry training in the eighty-seven mission dioceses in Alaska, Appalachia, the Southwest, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories in the Pacific islands.
The theme for the 2011 Catholic Home Missions Appeal is Strengthening the Church at Home. This year's appeal emphasizes the importance of our generosity to fund the pastoral works of the Home Mission dioceses. Once again, parishioners of the Diocese of Albany will have the opportunity to help their fellow Catholics in America to strengthen the Church at home.
Again, I am grateful for your parish's life of stewardship and faith!
Faithfully yours in Christ,
Howard J. Hubbard
Bishop of Albany
