Order forms system
Its executive management team includes Sister Joseph Catherine, O. Carm., President and CEO; James H. Flynn, Jr., Chief Operating Officer; Sister Patricia Margaret, O. Carm., Vice President of Mission; Paul MacGiffert, Chief Financial Officer; and Charles Maneri, Chief Financial Coordinator.
Sisters Joseph Catherine and Patricia Margaret have held leadership roles within their community as well as within the facilities sponsored by the order. Mr. Flynn previously served as President and CEO of the Franciscan Health Partnership, a regional, Catholic, integrated delivery system. Mr. MacGiffert was formerly the Vice President of Finance at the Franciscan system. Mr. Maneri has been financial advisor for many facilities sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters.
The Carmelite System comprises long-term care facilities, including skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, geriatric short-term care, rehabilitation units and specialty geriatric Alzheimer units. The System includes three facilities in New York: St. Patrick's Home in the Bronx, Ozanam Hall in Bayside, and St. Teresa's Motherhouse in Germantown. Additional facilities are located in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio and Ireland.
The Mission of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, which is to carry out the healing ministry of Christ in Catholic health care and proclaim the dignity of the aged and infirm, will drive the organization.
The facilities that comprise the Carmelite System retain and manage their respective operations, assets and debts. The Carmelite System will focus on coordination and collaboration to foster mission, improve quality and attain operational efficiencies through such services as mission effectiveness, quality improvement, financial and business services, group purchasing, management of information systems, marketing and public relations, strategic planning, public policy, and education.
"The congregation of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and the Infirm and our co-sponsors are very excited about this historic opportunity that will enable us to strengthen the Catholic healthcare ministry," said Sister Joseph Catherine, O. Carm. "The vision of our System is to be a beacon of Catholic health care to the aged and infirm, and to all those whose lives we touch. We will proclaim the value of life and the beauty and dignity of old age, and will strive to maintain a leadership role in the shaping and delivery of services and programs for the elderly."
Mr. Flynn remarked that "by coming together as one system, we believe we will strengthen all of our facilities both strategically and culturally, and enhance our ability to deliver cost-effective and compassionate care in the communities in which we serve."
