OEC announces grants
The Albany diocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis has announced the recipients of 2008-'09 Capital Campaign grants for rural and urban parish catechetical and youth ministry programs.
The Capital Campaign Committee has awarded $73,847 to nine parish/cluster communities, and another $5,000 toward scholarships for formation of catechetical and youth ministry leaders.
Capital Campaign Grants have been awarded to the following parishes or parish clusters:
* $15,000 to St. Patrick's in Ravena for a pastoral associate for youth ministry and the development of a comprehensive youth ministry program;
* $14,047 to St. Joseph's in Greenfield Center and its mission, St. Paul's in Rock City Falls, for a part-time pastoral associate for faith formation and part-time pastoral associate for youth ministry;
* $14,000 to St. Francis of Assisi in Northville and St. Joseph's in Broadalbin for a pastoral associate for faith formation and youth ministry;
* $10,000 to St. Mary's, Hudson Falls, toward of a pastoral associate for faith formation and youth ministry to assist parishes in its cluster (the Washington County deanery) to prepare for collaborative catechetical programs and planning;
* $9,500 to St. Stanislaus, Amsterdam, for a part-time pastoral associate for faith formation and the continued development of a comprehensive faith formation program;
* $5,000 to St. Patrick's, Troy, for program support and supplies, catechist formation, retreats, sacramental program development, adult faith formation and youth ministry;
* $3,500 to the cluster parishes of St. Mary of Mount Carmel and Sacred Heart, Gloversville, for a part-time cluster pastoral associate for youth ministry;
* $2,000 to the Greene County deanery catechetical/youth ministry leaders' association toward the planning and development of a deanery youth rally for fall 2008;
* $800 to Blessed Sacrament in Bolton Landing and the Warren County deanery parishes for the purchase of a national video-assisted catechist formation program, "Echoes of Faith," for use by all the parishes.
Grants will be disbursed in two allotments in August 2008 and January '09. Scholarships for catechetical and youth ministry leadership formation are disbursed throughout the year.
