New program

A new program to help seniors find services and housing will be launched by the Albany Diocese in July: Care for Life Senior Support and Assistance Services.

It is a "teleservice center" seniors and their families can call toll-free to find anything from an assisted-living apartment to long-term health care.

Operated by four healthcare organizations -- St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, Troy-based Seton Health, St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady and St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam -- Care for Life includes a program called "CHOICES," a private case-management service that will assess seniors and develop a care plan for their futures.

The contact number for Care for Life is already up and running: 1-866-525-1221.
