New nature walk

Over the near century-and-a-half that St. Agnes Cemetery has been open, indigenous birds and wildlife have heavily populated the trees and surrounding area. Recently, the cemetery was certified in environmental planning as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon International Society.

To encourage visitors to enjoy the natural setting and beauty inspired by recent landscaping, the staff has developed a meadow-and-nature walk. A brochure lists the many types of wildlife to be seen, such as the Eastern Bluebird, Killdeer and Red-tailed Hawk; Red Fox, Flying Squirrel and Whitetail Deer; and Norway Spruce, Kentucky Coffeetree, Tulip Tree and American Beech.

For a complete list, ask for the Natural History brochure at the cemetery office.
