GOOD NEWS FOR KIDS
More than a million
Jesus, help me to always remember that you love me more than a million dollars! Amen.
"God loved the world so much," said Jesus, "that He gave it His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him can live forever with God. God sent His Son into the world to save it, not to judge it. Whoever does bad things turns away from the light, but whoever does good comes toward the light, to God."
Money is a hard thing for some kids to understand. A hundred dollars and a million dollars both sound like a lot when your allowance is a few dollars a week! And when you hear about people winning money or earning a lot of money for their jobs, it's hard to grasp exactly how much money that is.
This week's Gospel (John 3:14-21) talks about another hard concept to grasp: The fact that God loved the world and every single person in it so much, Jesus came into the world as a person like us to teach us about God, and then died on the cross to save the world.
If you had a million dollars, you imagine, you'd live in a mansion and own all the pets you ever wanted. You'd have your own movie theater and a front-row seat for every game of every sports team. You'd make sure kids without families had places to live and everyone had food.
Imagine being able to do all of that -- and then giving it up to be homeless. That's like what Jesus did in coming into the world. He could have stayed in heaven, but He sacrificed everything because He loved us so much. He even died to prove that.
It's hard to understand money -- and hard to decide what to do with it. It's even harder to understand God, but, as with money, we have to try. God loves us more than a million dollars, and Jesus wants us to try as hard as we can to be good and love Him back![[In-content Ad]]
