* St. Vincent's Apartments in Albany, a 60-unit complex, is unusual because it's the oldest of the facilities. A converted school, it has existed for 25 years and includes on its grounds a grotto to Our Lady of Lourdes. "We rent [the grotto] out for weddings, but it's also used a lot by the residents," Byrl Moore noted.

* Bishop Broderick Apartments, also in Albany, has 100 units on a quiet, dead-end street in the South Colonie area. The compact building boasts two elevators, patios and gardens.

* Branson Manor Senior Apartments is a 50-unit complex in Rensselaer. Ms. Moore said many residents love that a new McDonald's and a Dunkin' Donuts have opened across the street, so they can walk there. Residents can also walk to a nearby movie theater.

* Marie-Rose Manor is a fairly new, 50-unit, brick-front facility in Slingerlands. It is located in a wealthy area and boasts walking paths through the woods.

* St. Jude Apartments in Wynantskill, the only facility in that area, has 50 units next door to St. Jude's parish and school. Its most special feature is a successful intergenerational program that pairs seniors and youth in projects.

* The Cabrini Acres Senior Apartments, Carondelet Commons Senior Apartments, Fontbonne Manor and the Sanderson Court Senior Apartments are all grouped in one Latham location. With 50 units in each building, these facilities are able to offer programs and services smaller facilities can't.

* The 50-unit Bishop Hubbard Senior Apartments in Clifton Park is the only DePaul facility in Saratoga County. The apartments recently had a complete overhaul to give them a new look. Ms. Moore said the apartments have a "nice community connection" with area senior centers, libraries and even non-Catholic churches.

* The Delhi Senior Community, a 45-unit facility, is brand-new and the most rural housing complex. Created from renovated college housing, the apartments each have their own entrance into a central courtyard. Ms. Moore noted that the apartments are still being filled as word gets out about the complex to the wide-spread population in Delaware County.

* The Lawrence Center in Schenectady, a small facility, serves people who are mobility-impaired but aren't necessarily senior citizens. The entire facility is handicapped-accessible; residents must have a physical disability that qualifies them to live there.

* Set to open in 2003 is the 50-unit Rev. Leo O'Brien Senior Community in Rotterdam, DePaul's first foray into that area. "The land isn't even cleared, but we're very excited!" Ms. Moore remarked. "We're hoping to close on it in late summer or early fall."
