PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
Jesus, help me think about who I want to spend time with when I meet new people! Amen.

John the Baptist saw Jesus and said, "There's the Lamb of God!" Right away, two men named Andrew and John asked Jesus, "Teacher, where are you staying?" Jesus answered, "Come and see." Andrew told his brother, Peter, "We have found the Messiah, who'll save the world!"

Kids can often tell right away who likes them. An adult listens to you, jokes around and wants to spend time with you, and it doesn't take you long to feel comfortable around that person. On the other hand, an adult who doesn't know how to talk to kids makes you very uncomfortable!

Kids aren't the only ones who can sometimes sense a good person to be around. In this week's Gospel (John 1:35-42), some people meet Jesus and immediately know He's someone they want to befriend. In fact, they become His first Apostles!

When you meet a new person, whether it's a kid or a grownup, it usually takes a little time before you decide what you really think of the person. You might play with a kid for a while and realize he's kind of mean, or listen to the adult and realize she doesn't know much about kids - or you might quickly find that you like the person.

Andrew, John and Peter liked Jesus instantly - probably because He was so comfortable with them. When they met Him and asked where He was staying, Jesus didn't say, "None of your business;" He said, "Come on over!"

When they added that nice invitation to John the Baptist's message that Jesus was the "lamb of God," the person who would save the world, the three men knew they'd met someone they wanted to follow. Jesus was obviously who John said He was. Andrew, John and Peter had been searching for God, and they found Him![[In-content Ad]]
