Husband dials up repairs
Dozens of radios, like Stromberg-Carlsons, line the walls of the Frezons' basement. Mrs. Frezon complained lightly that there's no room for her quilting supplies in the basement because it's so crowded with radios.
Every radio is in working order. Mr. Frezon, a retired engineer who once designed cannons for the Watervliet Arsenal, first repairs the radios, then refurbishes them to their former glory. The oldest radio on the shelves is a 1924 Radiola, a small black box with gleaming knobs. A couple of large, cabinet-style radios stand on the floor, but the hobbyist usually avoids buying those, because they take up too much room.
As Mrs. Frezon showed off closets full of bolts of material, ironing boards and a sewing machine, she noted, "I can do all this because Ed has his own hobby."
Mr. Frezon nodded. (KB)
