Gloversville crimes
That changed in 1998, however, with four murders committed between February and May; in a fifth case, four people have been charged in connection with the death of an elderly woman.
Here is a brief description of the crimes:
* On Feb. 23, Timothy Morgan, 19, allegedly shot Joseph Boop, 46, in his cab after riding from Gloversville to Bleecker.
* On March 17, Amanda Djzierson, 20, Lucas Whaley, 17, and Theodore Cook, 17, allegedly kidnapped Ms. Djzierson's ex-boyfriend, John Morgan, 19, tied him up, tortured and strangled him.
* On May 3, John C. LaVeille, 39, allegedly bludgeoned William Holland, 49, to death in Johnstown.
* On May 24, Ronald Johnson III and Bruce Insonia, both 16, allegedly killed Robert Wittemeyer, 77, by tying him to an easy chair, tipping it forward and pushing his face into the floor, causing death by asphyxiating him.
Four people have been charged in connection with the burglary and death of Jessie House, 91, last month. On July 28, she was found barely conscious and bleeding at her Gloversville home; she died that afternoon. (PQ)
