BISHOP'S MISSION LETTER
Give generously to World Mission Sunday
Each time I watch the world news on television I am reminded of my 2010 trip to Sudan and Nigeria, and I recall with great clarity the sights and sounds of those places. I can see in my mind's eye the faces of persons I was privileged to speak with, and I still hear their words. As well, I am still awed by the strong faith in Christ of so many Sudanese and Nigerians whom I met.
Their faith is rooted in the sacrificial ministry of missionaries who helped to plant in Africa the seeds of our faith. While I speak here of only two places, Sudan and Nigeria, I know that the same may be said of many areas of our world where the faith continues to be rooted in the hearts, minds and cultures of countless people.
Each year when our Holy Father proclaims World Mission Sunday, he calls us to share in Christ's great commission to make disciples of all nations. The financial gifts that you offer are essential resources for our Holy Father as he cares for the fledgling churches throughout the Mission World. Thank you for your generosity and for your prayers for the Missions.
May the Lord of the harvest grant you every grace and peace.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Howard J. Hubbard
