The Argyle Area Community Choir will have a concert Nov. 4, 7:30 p.m., at Argyle Presbyterian Church. The choir includes parishioners of St. Joseph's in Greenwich. A free will offering will support Operation Santa Claus, which provides clothing for needy children at Christmastime....

CAROL KIRSIMAGI of Immaculate Conception parish in New Lebanon won a number of first and second prizes for her artwork and gardening efforts at the 2016 Columbia County Fair. Her still-life painting, "Acrylic Lemons," won best in show in the domestic arts and crafts category....

Sacred Heart School in Troy is having a sock hop Nov. 4, 6-8 p.m., with pizza, treats and dancing in their 1950s attire.

Boy Scouts at St. Vincent's parish in Cobleskill sponsored a Halloween breakfast and costume contest. St. Vincent's has also been collecting knickknacks that children can purchase for their families for Christmas during a "Santa's Bargain Basement" sale....

St. Mary's School in Waterford had a haunted house for Halloween....

Annunciation parish in Ilion co-sponsored a night of Halloween fun for the town, with games, food and a costume contest. Boy Scouts NICHOLAS RANDAZZO, LIAM ADAMS, JEFFERY SALAMONE and RYAN AND CHRISTOPHER JANIS from Annunciation and from Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Frankfort received Ad Altare Dei religious awards for scouting....

St. Mary's/St. Paul's parish in Hudson Falls had a Halloween party by the parish guild, with games and entertainment for kids up to age 10....

At Immaculate Conception parish in Hoosick Falls, there was a "Halloween spooky sub-basement:" an eerie evening in the old under cellar of the church. Kids were led by eighth-graders from St. Mary's Academy in Hoosick Falls through underground passages, then had pizza and wings while watching the movie "The Blob"....

Christ Our Light parish in Loudonville blessed children for the eve of All Saints Day (Halloween). Children were invited to dress as a saint; parishioners were asked to bring items for the food pantry....

Kids at Our Lady of Victory parish in Troy could carve pumpkins for Halloween. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade participated in a family event in the parish center one weekend during the regularly-scheduled faith formation sessions....

At St. Madeleine Sophie School in Schenectady, new student council officers are CONOR WEBB, FRED DURO­CHER, LEXIE CRISTALLI, JULIA DOBKOWSKI and CHLOE O'CONNOR....

St. Joseph's in Broadalbin and St. Francis in Northville recently began a youth ministry group for grades seven through 12....

The admissions office at LaSalle Institute in Troy invited fifth-grade boys to "be a cadet for a day" at LaSalle: visiting with a LaSalle sixth-grader, attending classes, meeting the principal, having lunch with middle school students, spend time with some high school seniors and more. Parents were invited to meet with school officials, too....

Christian Brothers Academy in Albany just had an open house, with a "meet and greet" for parents, alumni and faculty, campus tours, performances by the school's marching band, drill team and color guard and more. CBA also invited prospective students to come be a "brother for a day"....

Youth at All Saints on the Hudson parish in Mechanicville/Stillwater plan a Rake and Run service project for Nov. 6, raking parishioners' lawns....

Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Watervliet was one of many that blessed students' backpacks as the school year began, along with celebrating Grandparents' Day....

The faith formation program at St. Mary's parish in Nassau has been collecting Legos for projects this year....
