Our Lady of the Assumption parish has been holding Monday-night barbecues and kickball games, a summer tradition....
At St. Mary's in Crescent, summer projects include landscaping and lighting near a statue of St. Mary and adding pavers and a bench; other landscaping, staining two porches, installing a fence at the rectory, doing yard work, cleaning floors and windows, painting garages and part of the parish center and updating the church's sound system....
St. Madeleine Sophie parish in Schenectady is replacing its parish center floor. The parish center was closed for asbestos abatement. TONI LAFOND, pastoral associate for administration, has accepted a new position at St. Paul's in Schenectady; LORRAINE DE CUYPER is no longer chairing the team that handles adult enrichment. Young people from the parish will be doing a workcamp -- building porches, stairs and wheelchair ramps and painting homes in Sunbury, Pa. -- in July....
MICHAEL SHARIFF of Our Lady of Hope in Fort Plain received the Catholic Daughters of the Americas' graduate award; he'll attend SUNY-Cobleskill in the fall to study agricultural engineering....
REV. CHARLES ANENE of Nigeria is visiting St. Ambrose parish in Latham until September. St. Mary's in Albany is welcoming REV. RAPHAEL WANJOHI of Kenya for the summer....
