Fast sought to safeguard worker rights
* Assistance to those who lost their jobs due to the Sept. 11 terrorism. Approximately 100,000 people lost jobs due to the attacks. While the City of New York has received billions of dollars of financial assistance, low-wage and immigrant workers unemployed since the attacks need assistance until they find work.
* Support for a living wage for New York City workers, who, although employed full-time, must rely on food pantries and food stamps to feed their families.
* A day of rest and overtime pay for the state's farm workers who are excluded from the state's labor laws.
* An increase to the state's $5.15 an hour minimum wage. The current minimum wage, the Labor-Religion Coalition said, mocks workers' dignity and keeps workers at the poverty level. (MM)
