OBITUARY

Eugene D. Cunningham

A funeral Mass was offered Feb. 5 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, for Eugene Cunningham, who died Jan. 31. He was 92. A native of Hubbardsville, N.Y., he was a Marine Corps veteran of Iwo Jima who was awarded many commendations, including the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the Presidential Commendation with three stars. He worked for four decades for the Oneida National Bank and Trust Co. and assisted in establishing a Catholic Charities program in Herkimer County. Survivors include his children, Eileen Kipper, Loree Gallagher, Maureen Snyder, Shawn and Rev. Mark, who is pastor of St. Francis de Sales parish in Herkimer and sacramental minister to Blessed Sacrament in Mohawk; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Interment will be in the spring at Mohawk Cemetery, Mohawk.[[In-content Ad]]
