Diocese gets $168K from Fidelis Care
Diocesan Catholic Charities is receiving a $128,000 grant toward services like Wheels and Ways to Work, which helps families in need get a vehicle so they can maintain employment, and for after-school care at Sunnyside Center in Troy and scholarships to Camp Scully, the Diocese's summer camp on Snyder's Lake for disadvantaged children.
In addition, Fidelis Care granted $40,000 to St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam to support Promotura, an outreach program to the Latino community, in providing health screenings, education and follow-up case management to migrants and homeless persons at the Montgomery County Homeless Shelter.
Bishop Howard J. Hubbard said the Diocese is "very appreciative of this generous support from Fidelis Care, which will be used to serve so many of our families in need."
This is Fidelis' ninth year of offering community grants to non-profit organizations that share similar missions to care for the poorest and most vulnerable populations. The grants are made in coordination with the bishops in New York's eight Catholic dioceses.
Fidelis Care offers free or low-cost health insurance through New York State-sponsored health insurance programs Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care. Call 1-888-FIDELIS (1-888-343-3547) or visit fideliscare.org.[[In-content Ad]]
