Day of prayer
The all-day event, to be held at the Jesuit Retreat House in Auriesville, is being coordinated by three diocesan agencies -- the Family Life Office, Hispanic Outreach Services and Hispanic Apostolate -- in cooperation with Family Rosary Inc.
The day will include a session on applying the Rosary to everyday life, opportunities for meditation and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and a special Mass.
Sister Anne told The Evangelist that it's a good idea to bring Hispanics from different areas of the Diocese together to celebrate their culture and faith.
"It's important to have some more formal prayer available to the Hispanic community," she added.
The event is expected to draw 40 to 50 people from Troy, Schenectady, Amsterdam and Albany. Sister Anne hopes for more, but said that the prayer day "is a first. If we have 40 people, wonderful. It is a beginning."
(The Day of Prayer and Reflection will be held Oct. 31, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost is $20 and includes lunch. Participants must register with the Family Life Office; call Martha Arenas-Fenn at 453-6677.)
