THE ANNUAL CHRISM MASS was offered March 22 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany to bless sacred oils for use in sacraments all year in the Albany Diocese. The oils are used at baptisms, at ordinations, to anoint new Catholics and for the sacrament of anointing of the sick. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger.

First, Julia and Mathilda Tristan process with the chrism oil as Sarah Golden follows with perfumed oil.

Second, Bishop Scharfenberger blesses the oil for sacred chrism, assisted by Dr. Marco Jonas, seminarian Peter Thien Van Nguyen and Deacon Anthony Cortese.
