Choir to perform Handel's 'Messiah'
The choir, under the direction of Deacon J. Neil Hook, will perform Dec. 3, 3 p.m., in the chapel of the Provincial House of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Latham. Bishop Howard J. Hubbard will deliver the invocation before the concert.
Deacon Hook said: "I am very excited about having the choir perform at the Provincial House. This is the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of St. Joseph, and 60 years ago I began my own musical education under the aegis of the sisters. It's kind of like coming home to be able to conduct this wonderful musical work at the sisters' chapel."
The choir begins rehearsals on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of St. Margaret Mary in Albany. It is looking for additional voices (tenors and basses are specifically needed). Anyone interested can call 869-0602 or 765-4117.
