Catholics have hopes for the future
* Ellen Fitzgerald, St. Clare's Church, Colonie: "I would like to see the Bishop continue to address the important issues of peace and justice, as well as continue his strong support for Catholic schools in our Diocese."
* Margaret Sedlmeir, St. John the Baptist Church, Greenville: "I'd like to see the Bishop continue community-building through his strong ecumenical efforts. A community of believers and [religious] unity are needed at this time; and through his work in this area in the past, many channels have been opened. In the seven years that my husband and I have been in the Albany Diocese, we have seen the Bishop's ecumenical efforts reap wonderful results. I'd like to see that continue."
* Dennis Bailey, St. Henry's Church, Averill Park: "Bishop Hubbard has always been of great assistance to the poor and needy in the Albany Diocese, and I'd like to see that continue. He is a gentle man, one of great compassion and understanding, and his efforts to help the less fortunate in our Diocese have been appreciated by many. I'd also like to see him continue working with our youth, who are the future of the Church, as well as his ecumenical efforts with those of other faiths."
* Ginger Trippodo, St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel parish, Gloversville: "I would like Bishop Hubbard to continue his affirmation of those who volunteer and work in lay ministry, as he has done so strongly in the past. He is well respected throughout the Diocese by those that work in ministry. He is also deeply committed to the people of this Diocese. I just want to see him continue to shepherd the way he has been doing because so far he's done a great job!"
* Liz Anderson, St. Mary's parish, Amsterdam: "The programs the Bishop has implemented are working so well. I'd like to see them continue, especially with regard to Catholic schools. I believe a Catholic school education is very important and would particularly like to see him develop a means by which Catholic education could become more affordable for our families in the future."
* Rev. Thomas Berardi, pastor, St. Vincent de Paul's Church, Cobleskill: "The Bishop has a strong vision of empowering the laity to actively participate in ministry. I would like to see this continue in our future. The tone he sets regarding issues of social justice is what encourages people to do God's work. He's doing a great job. For our future, empowerment is the key!"
