Catholic school educators face other challenges in the future:
* Implementing the New York State Learning Standards is another challenge, according to Sister Mary Jane Herb. "How to take what the state is issuing and put it in place with teachers prepared is an issue," Sister Jane said. "We need to make sure our teachers are on top of professional development."
* Catholic schools must adapt and insert religion into the changes since religion is integrated into all aspects of their curricula.
* "We need to do recruitment all of the time, whether our building is full or empty," Sister Carol said. "We need to keep the message in front of parents that we want to be partners with them. Catholic schools are the most effective means for passing on the faith." (MM)
