Building goes on all over Diocese
Here is a sampling of recent building and renovation projects in the Albany Diocese:
[[In-content Ad]]* Seton Health Systems announced plans in April for a major building and renovation project at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. The effort will allow the hospital to reopen its obstetrical unit, which has been closed since 1971. The project will also include a new Intensive Care Unit, a new kitchen and cafeteria, a multi-use conference center, and a new Pediatric Unit.
* Teresian House, operated by the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, is working on a $17.8 million addition and renovation project. A new 102-room wing will be added to the current 300-bed facility. The renovation will include converting the current nursing home rooms into clustered neighborhoods of private rooms, including adjoining rooms. The addition will allow the facility to eliminate 50 double rooms. Eating and common rooms will be replaced by smaller facilities for each of the clusters. The expansion will also allow an intergenerational daycare center to be developed with space for 75 children.
* St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer has added a parish and school gymnasium, parish offices, school offices, classrooms space and a faculty room.
* St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar has added religious education classroom space, a school science lab, computer lab, library, kitchen and multi-purpose space.
* St. Catherine of Siena parish in Albany is building a new church, renovating the current church building for use for the parish school and adding additional classrooms.
* St. Ambrose School in Latham added four new classrooms.
* St. Pius X School in Loudonville has added six new classrooms.
* Catholic Central High School in Troy recently underwent a $1.9 million project that renovated the 50-year-old building.
