Bishop tapes shows for TV retreat
First announced in The Evangelist in December, the three-night retreat will be shown on WNYT, channel 13 in Albany, on April 10-12 at 8 p.m. For full coverage of the 14-county Albany Diocese, the programs will also be broadcast on NBC affiliates in Utica and Binghamton.
The three half-hour programs, which are being produced by the diocesan Media Office, include the Bishop's comments and "video parables." These segments are interviews with Catholics from around the Diocese who illustrate the Bishop's points on such topics as prayer, deepening a relationship with Jesus and living one's faith in contemporary society. Included are comments from priests, religious and laity.
Bishop Hubbard videotaped his part of the shows in three locations: St. Paul's Church in Troy, his boyhood parish; the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany; and Annunciation Church in Ilion.
The Bishop decided to present the televised retreat as part of the Diocese's celebration of the Jubilee Year 2000. Twenty years ago, he offered Lenten retreats on television that proved to be enormously popular with viewers.
