Background: Mark Sullivan, 8th president of the College of St. Rose
* Mark Sullivan is the eighth president of the 76-year-old College of Saint Rose.
* Since 1987, he served as executive vice president of Marist College in Poughkeepsie. In that role, he was the chief operating officer and responsible for the coordination, management and evaluation of all activities relating to planning, enrollment and retention, student affairs, administration and finance, facilities development, information technology and human resources. During his tenure he was instrumental in helping to attract nearly $40 million in funding support for Marist, including a multi-million dollar IBM/Marist joint study integrating academic and administrative information technology throughout the college environment.
* Prior to Marist, Dr. Sullivan served as vice president for administration at Southern Connecticut State University, assistant commissioner for the Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education, and Connecticut's acting commissioner for higher education. From 1973-78, he held positions with the New Jersey Board of higher Education and the Governor's office in Wisconsin.
* He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island, a master's degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and a doctorate in education from Harvard University.
