Background info on Siena College president
* Rev. Kevin Mackin, OFM, is the ninth president of the 59-year-old Siena College.
* He is a native of Brooklyn.
* He was most recently the director of development and public relations for the Franciscans' Holy Name Province, which is the largest province of Franciscans in the United States. During his time in that position, the money raised by the fund raising unit of the province went from $1 million annually to $3 million annually.
* He received a bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1960, a master's in history from Siena in 1964, and holds four degrees from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.: a bachelor's of sacred theology, a master's in religious education, a licentiate of sacred theology, and a doctorate in sacred theology.
* His publications include the book, "In Search of the Authentic Christian Tradition," published in 1978.
* He was a faculty member and administrator at Siena from 1970 to 1982. During that time, he served as both an assistant and associate professor of religious studies, and chaired the department from 1972 to 1974. While he was guardian of the friary, Siena's old friary was converted to a student residence hall, a new friary constructed, and the College chapel renovated.
