* Rami G. Khouri, former editor of the Jordan Times, who currently hosts a weekly radio show and writes a syndicated column, both dealing with Jordan's archaeology and history. We were privileged to have Mr. Khouri as our guide the day we toured the Decapolis area in north Jordan.
* Dr. Mohammad Waheeb, chief archaeologist for the dig at the Baptism site. He is also the director of Jordan's Cultural Resources and Management Project. Dr. Waheeb gave us a guided tour of the excavations now open to the public, and briefed us on the research and traditions that support the claim that Jesus was baptized on or near the east bank of the Jordan River. He also brought us through some border checkpoints to view sacred remains from the first-century AD and to walk to the river's edge.
* Thanks to the excellent drivers and guides, especially Kamal and Kamel.
