'Earth-shaking tragedy' left impression
Sadness, loss, patriotism, death, suffering and bravery. Burning, crashing and falling. The World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Two planes, hijacking, crashing, terrorism, Policemen, firefighters, bravery and sacrifice.
Those words all describe the horrific terror of September 11, 2001. This year, 2006, is the five-year anniversary of this tragedy. Together, as Ameri-cans, we bow our heads in remembrance of the terror that took place on this date, and we remember the bravery of the rescue workers.
This earth-shaking tragedy has left a lasting impression on the lives of countless Americans. I was very young on this day, but I could still comprehend the terrible sadness and loss that occurred.
This day caused anger and sadness shared by all Amer-icans, and it left a lasting impression on me, my family and my friends. We will never forget this day.
The everlasting impression that it left on us also inspired a new level of patriotism, not only in me, but in many Americans. My family, my friends and I are now more appreciative of our great country, and we are more concerned about its protection and preservation than ever. We no longer take the great blessing of living in America for granted.
The terror of September 11 also sparked a great anger in us. It sparked a great anger in us towards those who oppose Americans and our freedom.
The loss and terror of this catastrophic nightmare also affected my faith life. It made me realize that life does not last forever because tragedies like this occur sometimes. Because things like this occur in life, you can never put God's will off. It actually strengthened my faith.
September 11 was a devastating and catastrophic act of terrorism that caused nationwide loss, sadness and patriotism. It affected the lives - and faith lives - of many Americans, their families and their friends - including me.
