Deacon Jim Bower, interim administrator of Holy Family parish in Little Falls, was awarded the 2018 Spirit of Giving Award through the Gram Lorraine Christmas Program.

Each year, Holy Family parishioners, along with other members of the Little Falls community, participate in “Gram Lorraine” by purchasing gifts of clothing, toys and games for (anonymous) children in need.

Once wrapped and ready for distribution, the Holy Family Parish Hall becomes the distribution point for those who have registered.

In addition to the Little Falls chapter, there are 10 other chapters of the Gram Lorraine Children’s Christmas Program in Herkimer and Montgomery counties. These programs help parents make Christmas more joyous for some 1,000 children every year.

Coalition directors Dave Petkovsek and Kay Lenarcic, with the Sgt. Joseph “Stash” Zawtocki Chapter of the program in Little Falls, distributed gifts collected this year to more than 100 children in the Little Falls area.

On distribution day, parents arrive to collect their child’s gifts at the gymnasium, where the spirit of Christmas is evident in the scores of brightly decorated boxes and bags filled with gifts that lined the periphery.
