Officers and members of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) gathered on Oct. 3 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany to celebrate the 53rd Annual Memorial Mass. Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger served as celebrant and homilist. CDA members from courts in Mechanicville, Hudson, Ilion, Schuylerville, Saratoga Springs, Whitehall, Newport, Canajoharie and Fort Edward who have died since Sept. 1, 2019, were remembered during the Mass. New York State officers along with officers and members from Court Columbia #248 in Hudson, Court St. Bridget #265 in Ilion, and Court McLaughlin #422 in Saratoga Springs attended the Mass.

At the conclusion of the Mass, State Regent Theresa Duran presented Bishop Scharfenberger with a check for $1,500 from the Marie C. Curry Seminary Scholarship Fund. The seminary fund is a special state court project funded by all of the local courts. Each year the state court presents similar awards to each of the bishops in the eight dioceses of the state to be used as financial aid for seminarians.
