Sister Jane Rose Urbanski, CR,
Sister Jane Rose Urbanski, CR, 102, died Nov. 19 at Riverside Nursing Home in Castleton. Sister Jane Rose entered the community of the Sisters of the Resurrection on Oct. 8, 1939 and professed her Final Vows as a Sister of the Resurrection on Aug. 15, 1946. She celebrated the 80th anniversary of her religious profession in 2021.
Sister Jane Rose’s ministry to God and the Church over many years was mainly in the field of education as a preschool and kindergarten teacher. Sister Jane Rose earned a degree in elementary education from Maria College in Albany. She served at: St. Mary’s in Schenectady, St. Adalbert’s in Schenectady, St Casimir’s in Yonkers, St. Casimir’s in Albany, St. Michael’s in Cohoes, and many years at St. Savior’s Day Care Nursery in New Bedford, Mass. From 2001-09 she was a volunteer in the gift shop at Resurrection Nursing Home (now Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing) in Castleton.
Born in Albany, Sister Jane Rose was the daughter of the late John Urbanski and Wladyslawa Czajka. Sister is predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Martha Urbanski, Stella Urbanski and Lucy Kozielski, and her brother, Walter. Sister Jane Rose is survived by her sisters, Florence Whitney and Alice Mary Urbanski, several nieces and nephews and all the Sisters of the Resurrection.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 23 at the Sisters of the Resurrection Provincialate in Castleton. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery in Castleton. Those desiring may send a remembrance in Sister Jane Rose’s name to the Sisters of the Resurrection Memorial Fund, 35 Boltwood Ave., Castleton, N.Y., 12033
