As the country celebrated Memorial Day, Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie joined thousands of Catholic cemeteries across the United States in a national celebration titled, “Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes.” This program, developed by the Catholic Cemetery Conference, honors men and women who died while serving in the Armed Forces, as well as recognizing both active-duty military and veterans. Bishop Emeritus Howard J. Hubbard celebrated the Mass on Monday at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Veterans, who were offered special lapel pins, served as lectors and Eucharistic Ministers, and participated in the presentation of gifts.
